Skillbridge Opportunities with J. B. Hunt

Hey folks!  Today I want to bring to you a DoD Skillbridge opportunity with one of the most veteran friendly companies in the United States:  J. B. Hunt.  I had the pleasure of communicating back and forth with Eric Airola, the Senior Manager of Military & Veteran Relations with J. B. Hunt, over the last few weeks about their program.

Before I get into a lot of the details about their Skillbridge program, I wanted to talk about the company itself.  J. B. Hunt was founded by a veteran in the early 1960s and has strived to be a veteran friendly company from the start.  Throughout its 60+ years of existence, J.B. Hunt has grown to be one of the most recognized transportation logistics companies on the country’s highways, and nearly one out of every seven employees in the company are veterans!  J. B. Hunt is also fully supportive of individuals in the National Guard or anyone that wants to continue serving in a reserve capacity after they are done with their active-duty time.

Now that I have talked a bit about the company and how they provide great support to the veteran community, lets talk about their DoD Skillbridge program!   J. B. Hunt’s program is an internship modeled after their operations management training program.  Overall, the internship is 10-12 weeks of training, followed by practical application and on the job training, for a total of around 140 days.  The internship program helps prepare transitioning service members for roles within the company as Transportation Managers upon hire and completion of the Manager Training Program.

The ideal candidate for this Skillbridge program is someone that has completed a bachelor’s degree with 1 year of relevant professional experience, OR a non-commissioned officer with 3 years of supervisory experience.  Having said that, there is a minimum rank requirement for this program: E-4.  Candidates must also be high energy, forward thinking, and ready to make an impact with one of the leaders in the transportation industry!   The internship does not take place at one specific location, rather there are multiple facilities within the company across the United States that can support hosting a Skillbridge intern. J.B. Hunt will work with the candidate to find a training location that can host an intern, and provide the possibility of permanent employment.

This Skillbridge program is amazing, because veterans have a drive to be among the best, no matter where they find themselves after their military service is over.  J. B. Hunt recognizes the value that veterans can bring to an organization, takes their leadership and management skills gained in the military, and adapts them to the civilian workforce.

If you want more information about this amazing program, reach out to Eric Airola via email at:  Eric.airola@jbhunt.com or by phone: (479)-419-2560.  When you reach out to Eric, he will get you set up with a personal interview with him to see if you are qualified for the program.
